California Swifter Karl Johanson sends the following email regarding the famous Sam Lyons print of "Flying and Flapjacks"... From: "Johanson, Karl S HS"
karl.johanson@hs.utc.com I met Sam and Mindy Lyons at the AOPA Expo in Long Beach this past October. Sam has done the well known polished Swift on canvas named Flying and Flapjacks. I am now the proud owner of a customized print on canvas. There are 22 left of the limited edition of 25. My print has been repainted to be my Globe-style blue windows and my N-number painted on the tail and wing tip (as per photos of my aircraft which I supplied to the Lyons). The original painting had the Temco D-style rear windows and no N number and was featured on a Ron Machado training book (don't recall the exact name of the book). I requested and received permission to have you post the before and after pics on the Swift website homepage with the info below provided by Mindy Lyons, Sam's wife (my picture is a camera shot so it does not show the full width). Sam's commissions are $4,000 to 10,000 and well worth the price for that special plane in your life but my wallet would only allow a nice quality canvas print and I am really pleased with the results. A polished Swift owner could have personalized limited edition picture for $750 framed and delivered. Of course, if your Swift already has Temco rear windows then the charge is just N numbers and should be discussed directly with Sam or Mindy. I have seen that we also have the link to Lyons website on our Swift website. The Swift picture is found under General Aviation section about 3 clicks into the GA listings. From Mindy Lyons...
