CALISTOGA and its suroundings

Calistoga, Napa Valley, California

Calistoga's main claim to fame is its hot springs, of course.
And indeed, it has been known as the "Hot Springs of the West" ever since
Sam Brannan came north from San Francisco in 1852 and decided that
this was the spot to build a health spa to rival Saratoga Springs in New York.

Calistoga enjoys a small scale, small town character with a strong sense of community, community pride and participation. This small town is a safe, friendly and unpretentious place to live. Located at the northern end of Napa Valley, Calistoga is blessed with a magnificient natural setting, a mild climate, extraordinary views, beautifully landscaped streets, with seasonally flowing creeks and the Napa river. The town is nestled in a rural agricultural setting with a long and colorful history of viticulture industries, health spas, tourism and bottled water production. Calistoga offers a unique small town character in close proximity to the metropolitan San Francisco Bay area, the Sierra mountains and the Pacific ocean.
