He married twice. He married Emma Della Thornton in Wesleyville, PA, December 27, 1906. (Emma Della Thornton is #220.) Emma was born in Greenfield Twp., Erie Co., PA January 28, 1889. She is the daughter of Buel G. Thornton. He married Mary Sorenson July 12, 1942. (Mary Sorenson is #620.) Mary was born in Harbor Creek, PA August 2, 1890. She is the daughter of Henry Sorenson and Caroline Nelson.

Ellsworth Axtell Cass and Emma Della Thornton had the following children:

31 i. Gladys Marie⁴ Cass #365 was born in South Harbor Creek, PA October 3, 1907. She married Earl Samuel Crouse in Baltimore, MD, June 22, 1929. (Earl Samuel Crouse #366.) Earl was born in Baltimore, MD March 11, 1907.⁽³⁴⁵⁾ He was the son of Samuel Thomas Crouse and Freda Martha Agatha.
