He married Matilda Hartle in Marseilles Twp., Wyandot Co., OH, March 9, 1876. (Matilda Hartle #906.) Matilda was born in Hardin Co., OH July 12, 1851. She was the daughter of Socrates Hartle and Henrietta Hendrickson. Matilda died March 10, 1912 in Huron, SD, at 60 years of age.

Henry Ethan Heckathorn and Matilda Hartle had the following children:

11 i. Charles Elmer⁴ Heckathorn #909 was born in Marseilles Twp., Wyandot Co., OH January 14, 1877.

12 ii. Agnes Heckathorn #910 was born in Marseilles Twp., Wyandot Co., OH August 10, 1878.

13 iii. Mary Belle Heckathorn #911 was born in Marseilles Twp., Wyandot Co., OH March 22, 1880. Mary died August 8, 1944 in Marion Co., OH, at 64 years of age. She married Walter Gillett in Upper Sandusky, OH, November 15, 1924. (Walter Gillett #912.) Walter was born in Dulwoch, England February 4, 1871. Walter died 1972.

14 iv. Sarah Heckathorn #913 was born 1883.

15 v. Elisabeth Heckathorn #914 was born in Marseilles Twp., Wyandot Co., OH March 12, 1888. She married Clifton Edwin Van Sickle in Bloomington, IN, March 15, 1922. (Clifton Edwin Van Sickle #915.) Clifton was born in Uniontown, PA March 21, 1895. He was the son of Eli Van Sickle and Margaret Sproul. Clifton died January 6, 1964 in Deleware, OH, at 68 years of age.

16 vi. Ruth Edith Heckathorn #918 was born in Marseilles Twp., Wyandot Co., OH June 8, 1891.

17 vii. Blanche Enid Heckathorn #919 was born in Marseilles Twp., Wyandot Co., OH May 9, 1893.
