He married Elizabeth Pratt in Norwich, CT, before 1660.⁽²⁸⁾ (Elizabeth Pratt #1303.) Elizabeth was born February 1, 1641/42.⁽²⁹⁾ She was the daughter of William Pratt and Elizabeth Clark. Elizabeth died 1730.⁽³⁰⁾

William Backus and Elizabeth Pratt had the following children:

7 i. Hannah³ Backus #1333.⁽³¹⁾ She married Thomas Bingham, Jr. February 17, 1691/92.⁽³²⁾ (Thomas Bingham, Jr. #1332.) He is the son of Thomas Bingham.

8 ii. William Backus III #1328 was born May 11, 1660.⁽³³⁾

9 iii. John Backus #1330 was born February 9, 1661/62.⁽³⁴⁾ He married Mary Bingham February 17, 1691/92.⁽³⁵⁾ (Mary Bingham #1331.) She is the daughter of Thomas Bingham.

10 iv. Sarah Backus #525 was born 1663.

11 v. Samuel Backus #1326 was born 1665.

+ 12 vi. Joseph Backus was born September 6, 1667.⁽³⁶⁾

13 vii. Nathaniel Backus #1336 was born 1669.⁽³⁷⁾ Nathaniel died about 1720.⁽³⁸⁾
