25. Joseph S.4 Rubins (Thomas3, Edward2, Edward1) #652 was born in Grand Twp., Marion Co., OH October 23, 1843.(641) Joseph died September 1899.

He married Eugenia Carey in OH, December 29, 1869. (Eugenia Carey #789.) Eugenia was born in Flanders, Sussex Co., NJ about November 17, 1842. She was the daughter of George Carey and Lucinda. Eugenia died September 30, 1916 in Marion Co., OH. "History of Marion Co., OH" pub. by Leggett, Conaway & Co. in 1883, p. 474: ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-FOURTH OHIO NATIONAL GUARDS - This regiment was organized May 11, 1864 under Col. Samuel H. Hunt. It reported to Gen. Morris at Fort McHenry. A portion of the regiment was in the engagement at Monocacy Junction, and suffered severely. In July, it moved toward the Shenandoah Valley, and on the 13th of August was attacked by the enemy while guarding a train at Berryville, VA. It mustered out August 31, 1864. COMPANY G- Sergt. D.J. Bower. D.E. Crabb, George Deal, Daniel Hickman, William Hickman, Elijah Kennedy, Robert Lindsay, E.H. Rubins, J.S. Rubins, Richard I. Thew, James M. Terry, Theodore Uncapher, Charles Van Orsdall.

Joseph S. Rubins and Eugenia Carey had the following children:

child 56 i. Harry5 Rubins #792 was born September 22, 1870. He married Margaret Hastings October 18, 1892. (Margaret Hastings #793.) Margaret was born August 23, 1872. Margaret died January 6, 1942 at 69 years of age.

child 57 ii. Mary Rubins #794 was born in OH 1873. Mary died 1878 in OH.

child 58 iii. Louelle Rubins #795 was born in OH 1876. Louelle died 1877 in OH.

child 59 iv. Lettie Mabel Rubins #796 was born in OH 1881.
