Justin-Siena Literary Programs

Literary Magazine

Justin-Siena High School publishes a literary magazine Siren's Call. Published by the English Department in the spring, it contains student poetry, short fiction, photography and art work.

In each of the categories of poetry and short fiction, there are three awards:

$75.00 first place,
$50.00 second place, and
$25.00 third place.

Speech Contest

The high school also holds a Speech Contest, held in late fall or early winter. The contest has four categories:
Impromptu,
Dramatic Reading,
Comic Reading, and
Expository.
In each of these categories, there are three awards:
$25.00 first place,
$15.00 second place, and
$10.00 third place.
All participants also receive a Certificate of Participation.

The contest is directed by the Justin-Siena Communications and Culture class, assisted by members of the English Department and the Administration. It is open to 7th and 8th graders from:
St. John's Catholic School (Napa),
St. John's Lutheran School (Napa),
St. Apollinaris School (Napa),
St. Helena Catholic School (St. Helena),
St. Francis Solano School (Sonoma),
Holy Spirit School (Fairfield), and
Notre Dame School (Vacaville).
