MORE ON COLUMBIA JOURNALISM REVIEW DEBATE The much-awaited September/October issue of the Columbia Journalism Review did publish three pages of letters-to-the-editor in response to Mark Stanton's attack on the media's coverage of the memory wars which appeared in the previous, July/August issue. (Stanton's article and my letter-to-the-editor are posted below in their entirety) Unfortunately, the editor printed only brief exerpts of several of the letters, stripping mine and Fredrick Crews's of their context and "teeth." Because it is very important that the responsible and concerned commentary on Stanton's irresponsible piece of journalism be read, I am publishing the letters of Daniel Schacter, Pam Freyd, Frederick Crews, and Mark Pedergrast in their full, original forms. For the published letters and Mark Stanton's reply, call: Columbia Journalism Review, 212-854-1881, or find a copy. | |
