Amazing Spider-Man #100-102

Marvel seems to like to do something special every hundred issues of Amazing Spider-Man, and issue #100
sees Spider-Man grow another four arms, two out of each side of his body.

In issue #100, Peter is fed-up with being Spider-Man, and decides that all he really wanted was a normal life
- preferably with Gwen. He takes a vial of a potion designed to get rid of his powers. He manufactured this
some time ago, in case the radioactivity in his blood became dangerous. Obviously though, the potion does
not work as planned, and he grows four extra arms.

In issue #101, he seeks the help of his friend Curt Connors, a.k.a. The Lizard. Curt is an expert in such
matters, having become the lizard in a similar failed experiment. Connor gives Peter permission to use his
summer house in Long Island. Meanwhile Morbius, The Living Vampire, floats up onto the beach having
been thrown off a ship. Connors arrives and transforms into The Lizard at the shock of meeting Morbius.

This is the first appearance of Morbius, and his origin is told in flash-back in issue #102. Michael Morbius, a
successful scientist is having blood problems, and goes out to sea to perform some unusual experiments in
an attempt to save his own life. He turns into Morbius The Living Vampire. In the end Peter and Connors
use some of Moribus' Blood to manufacture a serum to revert them both to normalacy. Morbius is left
missing, presumed drowned.
