Amazing Spider-Man #121-#122

Issue #121 opens with Harry suffering from LSD withdrawl. He's bed-ridden at his father's house with
Gwen and Mary Jane standing by, when Peter arrives and is confronted by Norman. Norman blames
Harry's friends for his drug addiction and just dislikes Peter in general. Peter believes Norman may finally
be starting to remember that Peter is Spider-Man and that Norman himself is his greatest enemy, the Green
Goblin.

After throwing Peter, Gwen and MJ out, Norman receives a phone call informing him of his financial ruin.
This added to Harry's condition, push him over the edge and he begins to halucinate that Spider-Man is
taunting him. He finally breaks and remembers everything. He runs off to one of his secret lairs and
becomes the Green Goblin. His first thought is that Peter Parker must die for what he has done to him and
his son.

The scene shifts to Peter and Harry's apartment where Gwen waits for Peter to return. As Gwen wonders
what could have made Harry so unstable, we see the Green Goblin flying towards the window behind her.

Peter finally arrives home, guised as Spider-Man only to find Gwen's purse and a pumpkin bomb.
Spider-Man goes looking for the Goblin, letting his spider sense lead the way. It leads him to the Brooklyn
Bridge (Washington St Bridge) where the Goblin stands atop with an unconscious Gwen.

Spider-Man and the Green Goblin fight it out for a while, when Spidey decides to just grab Gwen and take
her to safety. However, just as he's about to pick her up, the Green Goblin flies by and knocks her off of the
bridge. Spidey webs her legs as she's falling but the stop is too sudden and she dies.

In issue #122 the Green Goblin escapes as Spidey cries over Gwen. The police arrive and blame Spider-Man.
This makes Spidey freak out and attack the police, then rampage off to find the Goblin.

They meet up at one of Norman's warehouses where Spidey beats the Goblin to near death. As Spider-Man
realizes what he was about to do the Goblin commands his bat glider to ram Spider-Man from behind.
Spidey senses it coming and moves out of the way. The glider instead rams the Green Goblin, piercing his
chest and killing him.
