How we get things started:

Everybody sits down where they want. The deck is shuffled and dealt by the house host -- one card at a time face up to each player. First jack is the first dealer. He calls the first game, any ante amount and / or blind bets etc. for that game. He deals this game around the table moving clockwise. A dealer button begins at the first dealer, it is moved clockwise around the table with each new hand of that game. The dealer deals his game to the left of the button each time. When the button returns to the first dealer, the deal moves to the player on his left and that player is now the new dealer. This player now calls a new game, ante, blinds etc. Therefore, if there are 8 players, each game is dealt 8 times before a new game is called.

Jackpot for:

1) The highest hand of the night.

2) The winner of a final "7-up" game.

The jackpot is funded by a 10% rake from each pot over $2.50. In addition to the rake we fund the jackpot by adding any odd quarters from each player after the last hand of standard poker of the night and before the final 7-up hand. So, if a player has $52.50 in front of him, he puts the 50¢ in the jackpot. This makes it much easier to cash out at the end of the night as we only deal with whole dollars.

As the night progresses we track the highest hands, the best highest hand of the night takes 50% of the jackpot. The final hand of the night is a 7-card stud game with no betting intervals. Each card is dealt face up to each player, the winner takes the other half of the jackpot. If there are more that seven players at the table then a community card is dealt as the 7th card. The last 7-up hand is eligible for the high hand pot too. Although we haven't had that happen ---yet.
