AVID Microchip in horses

The AVID FriendChip is a tiny microchip that contains a one-of-a-kind identification number that identifies your horse and you as the owner. The FriendChip is so small that it fits through a hypodermic needle. It is placed in the crest area of your horse approximately half way between the poll and withers on the left side. The procedure is quickly accomplished with minimal discomfort to the horse.
The horse is identified with the use of a small hand-held scanner. Many of these scanners are in use throughout the United States by veterinarians, animal shelters and other public agencies responsible for animal care. AVID has a 24-hour hotline to receive reports and match lost animals with their owners.
The cost of $35.00 covers chip injection and registration. For three or more horses of the same owner, the fee is $30.00 per horse. Please call if you have further questions or would like to schedule an appointment.
